Remember that, during this further period of enhanced restrictions, local shops remain available to us, whether in person or by using their online or telephone services.  Information is still available on the ‘Information’ tab at the top of our homepage.   Urqhuart’s will take telephone orders and either deliver orders or these can be picked up from store. 01764 662672.  Other food shops – Spar; Allan’s and Howie’s, butchers and the pet supply shop remain open too., as do the pharmacies.   Jan de Vries is also open for food, vitamins and supplements, toiletries and household liquid refills.   Remember too, the larger supermarkets will deliver, but let’s try to ‘shop local’ as much as we can.

The Coop continues to offer various levels of support.  They have made it easier for those staying at home to pay for and get their essentials delivered with the Community Shopping Scheme. Many people have asked when the Aytoun Hall will reopen. The simple answer is that we do not know. In all likelihood it will remain closed until social distancing restrictions are no longer necessary and crowds at events are once again permitted. The Live Active Leisure Halls Operations manager has promised to let us know as soon as a decision affecting the Aytoun Hall is made.

Culture Perth and Kinross prepares to welcome back visitors –

The charitable trust has been working hard to innovatively adapt its services for operation post lockdown by launching a brand new ‘click and collect’ service and the reopening of one of the most loved buildings in the City, the AK Bell Library.  Following Scottish Government announcements on Lockdown easing, Culture Perth and Kinross is delighted to start a phased reopening of some key services.  Services will be reintroduced as a phased return to ensure Culture Perth and Kinross can comply with all the requirements of social distancing and provide safe environments for visiting.  From 15 July, library members can access a new Click and Collect service for library books; this will initially operate from AK Bell Library.

St Margaret’s Health Centre Requests for telephone advice and appointments.
Things are getting busy again at the Health Centre and it would be really helpful if all requests for same day telephone advice and appointments could be made by 10am. All requests for an appointment will require discussion with a GP or Practice Nurse. Any calls received after 10am will be put on for the following day unless it is decided that they are too urgent to wait. This is because most of our medical and nursing staff have booked appointments after 11am and do not have time to take calls after the initial morning phone surgery (which can have as many as 80+ calls on it). Thank you for your support and understanding.

Update on local bus routes.  Whilst we have now entered into Phase 1 of the Scottish Government’s Route Map out of lockdown, there are major operational challenges in providing rural bus services.   The requirement to maintain 2m physical distancing on vehicles means that the passenger-carrying capacity of buses will be very significantly reduced.   As a result, Docherty’s Midland Coaches have decided that they are going to continue the suspension of all their local bus services for another three weeks.  The routes include Services 19, 20, 18, 45, 155 and 49/49A (Auchterarder Town Service)  This will take the suspension up to Monday, 22 June 2020.  Colin Docherty has emphasised however that the situation will be kept under review and any updated advice issued by the Scottish Government regarding the operation of rural bus services, during Phases 2-4, will be considered as a priority.
